TYREPOWER AMBASSADOR CRAIG LOWNDES WINS BATHURST 1000

Tyrepower Ambassador, Craig Lowndes and his co-driver, Steve Richards have done the unimaginable winning the 2018 Bathurst 1000, the seventh and fifth titles for the seasoned drivers, respectively.

In an emotional finish, the Bathurst win, will be Lowndes’ last win at The Mountain as a full time driver, after announcing his retirement from a full time position earlier this year.

2018 marks the fourth year of Lowndes as Tyrepower’s National Ambassador and extends on the partnership that began with the tyre retailing giant’s Queensland operations in 2010.

Australia’s most recognised driver, overcame power steering issues at the beginning of the weekend to finish the Race incident free.

“What an amazing finish! To have all the problems we had earlier in the week and then for us to bounce back as a team was really good,” Tyrepower Ambassador, Craig Lowndes said.

“I couldn’t have asked for anything more to really have the track come to me at the end and for us it really was an incredible finish. I’ve never had such a big gap on the last lap and been able to enjoy it.”

“Towards the end, your mind’s thinking anything can happen. I started to smell rubber and thought something could be wrong, but it was (Tim) Slade.”

Over 205,000 people attended the 2018 Bathurst 1000, with thousands more tuning in to watch the Network 10 broadcast.

Tyrepower branding was visible across the weekend, featuring on Craig’s distinctive helmet and race suit, while the Tyrepower logo was seen on repeat during the race as part of Tyrepower’s sponsorship of the Tyrepower Cutting corner at Bathurst’s famed Mt Panorama track.
